Your Home Away from Home
With hexagonal architecture designed to foster community as a “modern castle”, we’ve outlined our favourite places around Trevs to socialize, study, and relax.
Mowlam Room
The MCR exclusive hangout space is a gathering spot for all of our members. The Mowlam has a flatscreen TV, sofas, and fridge.
Library
The Trevelyan library provides a productive space for you to get down to business and complete your course readings, research and assignments in a respectfully quiet environment.
Bar
Every college at Durham has their own unique bar that is worth checking out with a bar crawl with your MCR. What you’ll soon realise is that ours is the best one bar none.
Gym
Whether you’re looking to blow off some steam or just break a sweat, an onsite gym at the college is the perfect study break where you don’t have to walk into down or all the way to Maiden Castle (sportscentre).
Music
Music plays a large part of life at Trevs. We have our own in-house jazz troupe The Manglers, as well as societies for everything ranging from A Capella to Orchestra to Musicals. Every year we host music events such as our Live On The Hill concert, as well as a competitive music prize!
Dining
There’s something amazing about sharing meals with people from all over the world. Our MCR all sit at a table where our discussions over food continue to foster relationships and growth as we learn from one another. The food is also on point!
Societies
Trevs hosts a large number of in-college societies, ranging from the LGBTQ+ Society to a Games Society! We have our own theatre group in the Six Side Theatre Company as well as our magazine in Hex, along with sports societies including everything from a boat club to football to pool.
Formals
Formal dinners are special nights in Trevs. Students wear formal clothes and gowns (available for purchase on arrival), or black tie on special occasions, and fill the dining hall for a three course meal. Formals typically last about an hour and feature a variety of quirky traditions.
You can book a formal by clicking here.
Footpaths
The English countryside is marked by winding footpaths that lead you through the beautiful countryside. We highly recommend discovering these trails by yourself or with a friend to see more of what Durham has to offer.
