Middle Common Room

Trevelyan Coat of Arms

There are three common rooms at Trevelyan College that serve as social communities for different groups. We have the Junior Common Room (JCR) for our undergraduate students, the Middle Common Room (MCR) for postgraduates and mature students, as well as the Senior Common Room (SCR) for alumni and mature members of the Trevelyan community.

The MCR exists to provide a social network for our postgraduates. As a smaller college at Durham University, this network naturally becomes an engaging, diverse, and close-knit community where everyone knows your name. We enrich the experience of our MCR members beyond your academic pursuits whilst at Durham University by providing a social space for you to connect, relax, study and thrive.

Be a part of our history and join a community where you will belong for life.

Each of our MCR members contributes to our community by bringing their experiences, values, and culture to share with others. Our events throughout the year encourage shared experiences that will spur on friendships and memories that will last longer than your time in Durham.
